the options on the filtering tab defines how filtering is done on browse screens the options chosen on the screen below are those used as the initial defaults when you were set up with a gemview username and password your ongoing defaults can be specified using the options in the paging and filters tab in many cases these settings can also be changed on the actual browse screens, but these changes do not become the defaults list filtering controls you preferences for filtering in the browse screens the browse screens option description none no filtering will be available with this option filter row (auto) text boxes will become available on each column the table will be filtered automatically after text has been entered (after a short delay) these filters work on and logic so results will only show if they meets all entered criteria filter row (manual) works similarly to 'auto' however will require you to press enter on your keyboard after filling the text box or clicking "apply" on the filtering column search panel a search bar is shown at the top of a grid where you can type in any combination of text to search within all columns shown in the grid this allows less detailed control than per column filtering but is simpler to use for filter row options, a filter icon will appear next to each text field clicking on these will allow you to change the search type (begins with, contains, etc) preferred filter & search type defines the default search type in browse screens this default option can be overwritten on browse screen by clicking the filter icon next to each text field
